The Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, addressed the establishment of the Wazen Free Zone and the completion of its technical and legal procedures, which will contribute to stimulating trade and supporting the local economy.

This was discussed during a series of meetings held by the Minister at the Ministry's Tripoli headquarters yesterday as part of efforts to support economic activity, develop market oversight mechanisms, and improve the regulatory environment for vital sectors.

The meetings included the municipalities of Zuwara and Wazen, where discussions focused on the state of local markets, price adjustments, and support for trade.

They also addressed economic challenges in border regions and strategies for enhancing commercial activity and improving services.

Regarding the health sector, the minister met with the head of the Medical Equipment, Supplies, and Devices Authority to discuss streamlining company and product registration procedures and strengthening oversight of medical devices in accordance with approved standards.

The meetings concluded with a meeting with the Municipal Guard, dedicated to monitoring the implementation of Ministerial Resolution No. 295 of 2026, activating market oversight, addressing economic violations, and regulating the employment of foreign workers in prohibited commercial activities.

Emphasis was placed on intensifying oversight campaigns and taking legal action against violators.

The minister emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant authorities to ensure market regulation, enhance transparency, protect consumers, and support economic stability.
