The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported today that, for the third time in less than three months, Libyan technical teams at Mellitah Oil and Gas Company achieved a remarkable success, completing maintenance work on well A-28 in the Abu Attifel field.
This involved isolating the associated water layers and re-perforating the well, as part of the company’s efforts to improve well efficiency and increase production rates.
This process resulted in a reduction of the associated water (WC) percentage from 87% to 0%, down from nearly 5,000 barrels per day before the operation. Simultaneously, the oil production rate increased from 580 barrels per day to 2,490 barrels per day, with a wellhead pressure (WHP) of 1,897 psi achieved on the same 56/64 choke size.
The NOC said these results reflect the success of the implemented technical solutions and the efficiency of the Libyan work teams in executing operations according to the highest technical standards, thus contributing to enhanced production performance and improved reservoir utilization.
