A training workshop on quality management systems in the marine fisheries and fish products sector, organized in coordination with the Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA), began today in Tripoli.
The workshop, which runs from May 19 to 21, 2026, is part of the Third Component of the EU4Skills project, which focuses on the Green and Blue Economy.
Participants from several relevant bodies and institutions are attending, including Food and Drug Control Centres from across Libya, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Marine Biological Research Centre, the National Centre for Standardization and Metrology, the Ministry of Marine Resources, and LEDA.
The workshop aims to enhance participants’ capabilities in quality management and its applications within the fish products sector, as well as environmental management and occupational health and safety, with a focus on relevant international standards and food safety requirements.
Contributing to increased competitiveness and export opportunities
It also seeks to support the alignment of Libyan fish products with international market demands and to strengthen coordination and knowledge sharing among various stakeholders within the marine fisheries value chain, thereby contributing to increased competitiveness and export opportunities.
The workshop is part of the activities of the EU4Skills project, funded by the European Union in Libya with a financial contribution from the French Embassy in Libya, which aims to develop skills and link education and training outputs to labour market needs, support the transition towards Green, Blue and Digital economies in Libya, and promote financial inclusion.
