The Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA) revealed last Monday (20 April) that the Indonesian Exporters Association signed a contract to import 200,000 litres of Libyan olive oil.
The contract was signed on the sidelines of the 52nd Tripoli International Fair taking place in Tripoli from 16 to 21 April.
The LEDA said the contract is a strategic move to boost national exports.
It will be recalled that a delegation from the Indonesian Exporters Association conducted a fact-finding visit to the Libyan Export Development Authority’s pavilion at Tripoli International Fair..
LEDA reported that during the tour, which included meetings with exhibitors, the delegation viewed outstanding samples of Libyan olive oil and dates, expressing their admiration for the products’ quality and competitiveness.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Association expressed its interest in exploring avenues for trade cooperation and pledged to promote these products in the Indonesian market.
An agreement was also reached to coordinate directly with Libyan exporters registered with the Authority and participating in the fair to explore potential trade deals, particularly in the olive oil sector.
LEDA said East Asian markets are considered promising for promoting Libyan products, especially agricultural products, with olive oil and dates being prime examples. Indonesia and India are among the world’s largest importers of dates.
