Preliminary steps are being taken at Mitiga International Airport to resume air travel between Libya and Algeria.
Libya’s Airports Authority reported last Wednesday (29 April) that the Assistant Director of Mitiga International Airport, accompanied by several department heads, received the Regional Director of Air Algérie for a preparatory working visit.
The visit included a tour of the airport facilities to review operational and technical procedures and assess the level of available ground and logistical services.
The Airports Authority said this tour is part of the preliminary coordination and data collection process, paving the way for subsequent official meetings to finalize the dates for resuming flights between Libya and Algeria. This will ensure the smooth flow of air traffic and provide the best possible service to passengers upon the actual resumption of flights, it concluded.
Libyan-Algerian Air Transport Agreement concluded
It will be recalled that Libya Herald had reported on 13 April that Libya’s Ministry of Transport announced that an air transport agreement between Algeria and Libya was agreed during a signing ceremony yesterday at the headquarters of the Algerian National Civil Aviation Agency, along with the signing of a memorandum of understanding regarding arrangements for resumption of flights.
