Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) reported yesterday that it has conducted an official visit to the ports of Barcelona and Valencia, as well as several institutions specializing in the port and transport sector in Spain.
It said the visits comes in an effort to enhance international cooperation and exchange expertise in port management and development.
The visit also included meetings with the Secretary General of the Union of Mediterranean Ports (UfM), in addition to an expanded meeting at the UfM headquarters with the Deputy Secretary General for Transport and Urban Development and the Head of the Transport Sector.
Discussions focused on opportunities for MFZ to participate in regional Mediterranean initiatives, particularly those related to developing transport networks, connecting ports, and supporting sustainability and green transition projects.
The meetings also explored prospects for cooperation in infrastructure development, digital transformation, capacity building, and green port initiatives.
MFZ said the visit is part of its efforts to benefit from leading European experiences and strengthen the port’s position as a pivotal logistics hub in the southern Mediterranean.
