Italy’s Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, and the head of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), Pierluigi Di Palma, led an Italian air transport trade delegation to Benghazi last Thursday (4 September).
Six technical agreements signed
ENAC reported that the Italian delegation was welcomed by a large Libyan team including representatives of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund and the management of Benghazi’s Benina Airport Authority. At the end of the meeting between the two sides, six technical agreements were signed aimed at the development of Benina airport and strengthening the aeronautical sector and the Italy Libya business synergy.
ENAC reported that during the meeting Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Rixi underlined the centrality of air transport in strengthening bilateral relations between Italy and Libya.
ENAC head Di Palma, meanwhile, reiterated ENAC’s commitment to civil aviation that unites different cultures and strengthens exchanges, adding that “The agreements signed today promote dialogue and the development of commercial activities with a country linked to Italy by a history of friendship and cooperation”.
ENAC said the agreements were a milestone following the reopening, at the beginning of the year, of direct ITA Airways and Medsky Airways flights between the two countries.
