The Committee for the Reconstruction of Benghazi Centre and al-Sabri (RBCS), part of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, continued to hold meetings in July with Turkish, Italian, British and Polish companies regarding the redevelopment project.
Turkish company NKY
The Architectural Engineering and Urban Planning Unit of the RBCS revealed today that it had held a meeting with the Turkish company NKY to review the latest progress and the advanced stages of the technical proposals for the Benghazi Waterfront (Corniche) Development Project.
The meeting included discussions on several design updates, architectural solutions, and technical observations, contributing to the development of the project through an integrated vision that enhances design quality and supports the objectives of the waterfront development.
Turkish company IRIS
The RBCS reported on 9 July that representative of Turkish company IRIS visited its project and stated that the visit provided the opportunity to closely examine the targeted sites and gain a deeper understanding of the area's character. IRIS praised the significance of the project and its vision for developing the area while preserving its urban and historical identity.
IRIS, accompanied by a team of engineers from the RBCS Committee, conducted a field visit to several key locations within the project area to inspect the proposed sites and assess their conditions on the ground.
The visit included existing buildings requiring restoration and rehabilitation, as well as several historic buildings of significant architectural value, enabling the preparation of more accurate proposals tailored to the characteristics of the targeted locations.
RBCS said this step reflects its commitment to linking technical proposals with on-site assessments and benefiting from specialized expertise to develop practical solutions that respect the area's unique character and architectural identity.
Italian company FIMA
On 7 July, RBCS reported that its chairman, Mohamed Al-Hassadi, held a meeting with Filippo Colombo, Consul General of Italy in Benghazi, and representatives of the Italian company FIMA to discuss the restoration of historic buildings within the project area.
The meeting focused on mechanisms for restoring buildings of Italian architectural character and reviewed specialized expertise in heritage restoration. The discussions aimed to preserve the architectural identity of these historic buildings and rehabilitate them in accordance with international standards, within the framework of the project’s vision to safeguard the historical and urban value of Al-Sabri and Downtown Benghazi.
British company P+P
The RBCS reported on 5 July that it had held a meeting with the British company P+P to discuss the area’s master plan and review investment opportunities and potential development sites within the project.
The meeting focused on the project’s investment vision and the mechanisms for integrating investment opportunities into the urban master plan. The discussions aimed to create an attractive investment environment and strengthen partnerships with investors from Libya and abroad, recognizing investment as one of the key pillars supporting the Al-Sabri and Downtown Benghazi Reconstruction Project and achieving sustainable development.
Polish company APA
Also on 5 July, RBCS’s Civil Engineering and Urban Planning Unit held a meeting with the Polish company APA to review the latest progress and the advanced stages of the Benghazi Waterfront (Corniche) Project design development.
The meeting included discussions on several technical observations and proposed design updates, in addition to evaluating the outcomes of the field studies. These efforts aim to achieve integrated design solutions that align with the project’s urban vision and support the development of the waterfront in accordance with the highest technical standards.
Turkish company On Tasarim
Similarly on 5 July, the RBCS’ reported that its Civil Engineering and Urban Planning Unit held a meeting with Turkish company On Tasarim to review the latest progress and discuss the technical modifications related to the advanced design stages of the Benghazi Waterfront (Corniche) Development Project.
The meeting included a review of several design proposals and updates to ensure that the project continues to develop in line with an integrated urban vision that takes technical and planning considerations into account and supports the project’s objective of enhancing the area’s waterfront.
