The Tripoli based Libyan Foreign Ministry reported yesterday that the German Embassy opened its new headquarters in the Janzour area of Tripoli, in a move that, the Ministry said, reflects Berlin’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic presence in Libya, after resuming its work in the country since 9 September 2021.
At the invitation of the German Embassy, the opening ceremony was attended by the Acting Tripoli based Foreign Minister, Taher El Baour.
Baour expressed the appreciation of the Tripoli government for this step, stressing its commitment to providing all necessary facilities to diplomatic missions operating in Libya, in a way that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations and supports stabilisation efforts.
The opening of the new headquarters of the German Embassy, the Ministry added, comes as an affirmation of the importance of Libyan-German relations, and reflects Berlin’s keenness to support Libya politically and economically, and to strengthen channels of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
