The Attorney General’s Office reported yesterday that the court convicted four employees of Sahara Bank in Khoms for the embezzlement of 1,542,666 dinars from the bank’s accounts.
The prosecution brought a case against a former branch manager and three employees from the accounting department before the Al-Khoms Court of Appeal.
In its last session, the court convicted the four defendants, sentencing the former manager to ten years in prison.
It also ordered him to repay the 1,542,666 dinars, fined him 3,844,532 dinars, and permanently deprived him of his civil rights.
The court sentenced the other three defendants, for negligence, to one year in prison, and ordered the suspension of the sentence for five years.
