No saviour for Libya except through constitutional based elections to end transitional periods: Grand Mufti

‎The Tripoli based Dar Al-Ifta, Libya’s official religious advisory council, reported today that British Ambassador Martin Longden met with the Grand Mufti, Sadeg Al-Ghiriani, at Dar Al-Ifta’s Dahra Tripoli headquarters.

Religion a factor of Libyan stability
Dar Al-Ifta reported that the two discussed the importance and role of religion in what is happening in the Libyan reality, stressing that adherence to the Maliki school in the country for long times throughout history was the reason for the stability of the country. ‎

‎Constitutional elections are Libya’s way forward
In the context of his conversation with the ambassador, Dar Al-Ifta reported that the Mufti stressed that there is no saviour for Libya except by going to the elections by adopting the constitution to end the transitional periods, eliminate financial and administrative corruption, and end the division in the country.

Demanded action not words from international community
The Mufti reportedly asked the active countries of the Security Council to support this option so that Libyan society enjoys stability, and that other loose statements of calling for reconciliation and talking about stability without effective solutions are all slogans that will not bring us to safety.‎
