Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, received at his Tripoli headquarters yesterday, Lieutenant General Edward Ahlgren, Senior Advisor to the UK Ministry of Defence for the Middle East and North Africa, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the UK Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden.
The Tripoli government reported that the meeting addressed:
- Enhancing military cooperation between Libya and the United Kingdom
- Supporting and building Libyan military capabilities
- Cooperating in the fields of training and development
The government said Aldabaiba stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership with the United Kingdom in the military field, which would contribute to raising the efficiency of Libyan military institutions.
For his part, the Tripoli government reported that Lieutenant General Ahlgren reiterated his country’s readiness to enhance cooperation in the fields of training and rehabilitation, to achieve stability and contribute to building effective institutions.
The meeting was attended from the Libyan side by Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, and his assistant, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush.
