Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, held a meeting yesterday with the executive team and the Ministry of Transport to follow up on the progress of work on the two passenger terminals at Tripoli International Airport.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing stages and future plans of the two projects. During the meeting, Aldabaiba stressed the importance of starting the implementation of the second terminal at the beginning of next year, with a focus on adopting the latest technologies in the airport sector and ensuring the implementation of the project according to the highest international quality standards, reflecting Libya’s aspirations to develop its infrastructure and enhance air transport services.
Work proceeding at accelerated pace at first terminal
The head of the Transport Projects Implementation Authority, Sami Al-Abash, confirmed that work is proceeding at an accelerated pace to complete the current terminal. This will have a capacity of 6 million passengers annually, with a total area of 30,000 square meters, which is twice the size of the previous airport. It is expected to be completed by the first half of 2025.
