Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, inaugurated last Tuesday (17 September) the new passenger terminal at Mitiga International Airport. The Tripoli government says this comes as part of the airport’s expansion and development project, which is part of its “Return of Life” plan launched to revive development projects in all sectors.‎

‎Continuing process of construction and development in various sectors
During his speech at the opening ceremony, Aldabaiba expressed his happiness with the opening of the new passenger terminal and the ongoing maintenance and development work at the airport. He stressed the need to improve the conditions of all airports in Libya, adding that the government is continuing the process of construction and development in various sectors.‎

‎Need to improve other services for travellers
The Prime Minister made an inspection tour of the new passenger terminal and all service facilities at Mitiga Airport, praising the executive work in this project, stressing the need to improve other services for travellers and facilitate travel and arrival procedures.‎

‎The first phase of the new passenger terminal, the departure stations and the security inspection system at Mitiga Airport were implemented by the Organisation for the Development of Administrative Centres (ODAC).‎

‎The total area of the passenger terminal is estimated at more than 23,000 square meters, after adding about 13,000 square meters to the old terminal. The average number of passengers to and from the airport is about 3 million passengers per year.‎
