The eastern based Ministry of Water Resources reported yesterday that it has engaged a leading Turkish company in water engineering to assess the condition of existing and collapsed dams. The company was not named.
It said this initiative is part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance water safety and ensure the sustainability of water infrastructure in the country.
The Turkish company, the eastern based Ministry of Water Resources reported, has prepared comprehensive technical proposals, including thorough studies and assessments of the existing dams.
It said the goal is to identify any weaknesses or issues that may require intervention to preserve their safety and improve their performance. This evaluation encompasses the Derna Dam, following field visits conducted by the Turkish company.
Additionally, inspections were carried out at the Gatara Valley Dam and the Jazza Valley Dam. The company assessed these vital water sites, providing recommendations for any necessary improvements or preventive measures. This proactive approach is crucial given the increasing water challenges facing the country, requiring collaborative efforts to safeguard water resources and enhance their management, the eastern based Ministry of Water Resources reported.
