The management of the Man-Mad River’s (MMR) Sarir–Sirte/Tazerbo–Benghazi system reported yesterday that technical teams from the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) successfully repaired an electrical fault in the transformers at the West Sarir station.
Power was restored to the Sarir wellfield at 5:30 PM yesterday.
Immediately following the repair, the MMR reported that three technical teams from the Sarir site began field operations, deploying across the wellfield to restart the wells as quickly as possible and restore the system to normal operational levels.
The electrical fault had caused 92 wells to go offline starting at 9:00 AM Tuesday, halting the production of water intended for urban and agricultural use.
The MMR inform all parties consuming water for urban and agricultural purposes that the well stoppage and service interruption resulted from the aforementioned electrical fault—an issue beyond its control or responsibility.
