Camco Oil Services, part of the Edgo Group, in partnership with Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO), reported that it has successfully drilled and completed a re-entry horizontal well in the Sarir Field, establishing a new regional benchmark for drilling horizontal wells at comparable depths and reservoir targets.
The achievement, the company said, reflects the continued collaboration between Camco and AGOCO and their shared commitment to advancing directional drilling performance, operational efficiency, and technical excellence in Libya’s oil and gas sector.
Setting a regional record
The company reports that the project was completed ahead of schedule, with the curve section and drain hole drilled in less than two weeks, setting a new regional record.
The operation achieved 100% of the planned drain length and 100% reservoir contact, successfully meeting all geological and directional objectives while maintaining a clean Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) record throughout the operation. Drilling performance also achieved an outstanding rate of penetration (ROP), outperforming offset wells targeting the same reservoir interval.
The successful execution was enabled through the integration of advanced Logging While Drilling (LWD), geosteering, and Reservoir Navigation technologies, supporting precise well placement and maximizing reservoir exposure.
Camco said this milestone reinforces Camco’s continued commitment to supporting the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and its affiliated operating companies by delivering advanced technologies, technical expertise, and reliable execution that contribute to the sustainable development of Libya’s energy sector.
