Fathi Bashagha, the Interior Minister of the internationally recognized Libyan government in Tripoli, met yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli with a delegation from the French company IDEMIA.
During the meeting, the prospects for security cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the IDEMIA to develop and strengthen the capabilities of the Ministry’s security agencies.
The company’s techniques and expertise in the field of security and training were reviewed in a number of areas related to security applications for passports and personal identities, and the use of biometric technology in identifying identities and preventing fraud in electoral processes, traffic system, civil status, and discussing a number of security topics of interest to the Ministry of Interior.
It will be recalled that the Interior Ministry had signed an MoU with IDEMIA on 18 November for a biometric ID system.
