Benghazi, 2 October 2017:
Benghazi lawyer Osama Ben Fayed who was arrested on Saturday, when security forces reportedly stormed his house and seized him in front of his children, has been freed after being transferred and interrogated in Tobruk.
He was said to have been arrested at the request the public prosecutor in Tobruk following complaints from the office of House of Representatives’ president Ageela Saleh. After questioning him, it freed him yesterday.
Ben Fayed had been an adviser to the HoR but reportedly resigned over differences of opinion with HoR chief executive Abdullah Al-Masri.
The nature of the complaints have not been divulged although it is reported that they related to comments he made on social media about the HoR, the Beida-based interim government of Abdullah Al-Thinni, and Khalifa Hafter
Ben Fayed previously was a legal adviser first to the National Transitional Council then to the General National Congress.
