Libya’s Tripoli-based Audit Bureau has issued a decree (No. 412/2017) temporarily suspending 7 Libyan diplomats working in Rome, Milan and the Vatican for ‘‘carrying out acts that caused serious damage to public funds’’.
They included Libya’s ambassador to Rome Ahmed Safar.
1- Ahmed Mabrook Safar – Ambassador to Rome
2- Mukhtar S.S. Mahmoud – Charge d’Affairs – Rome
3- Muftah Mahmoud Tarhuni – Financial Attache – Milan
4- Salem Rajab Abusneina – Finance Attache
5- Salahedine Milad al-Hamaly – Finance Attache
6- Faraj M. F. Abughrara – Health Attache
7- Abdelgader M. Abufunas – Health Attache
The Audit Bureau gave no further details of the charges against the diplomats.
