Tunis, 12 May 2017:
Further confirmation of plans to fully reopen Benina airport on 16 May has come from the pro-HoR offices in Benghazi of the Libyan news agency LANA.
In a statement today, it said that municipal guards at the airport had met with management to coordinate security arrangements during the celebrations to mark the third anniversary of Khalifa Hafter’s Karama movement.
Three weeks ago, the airport was given permission to recommence air ambulance, humanitarian, VIP and general cargo flights. The rolling restart continued today with the return of oil company flights. An Air Libya aircraft landed at Benina from the Messla oil field.
