Ghat, 20 December 2015:
Plans to hold the annual Ghat festival of tourism and culture are in doubt because of . . .[restrict]no financial support from either the authorities in Beida or Tripoli.
It had been hoped that it would begin on 27 December.
Local activists, nonetheless, say they are determined that it will go ahead despite the financial as well as the political problems. A meeting of a new organising committee is due to be held today to decide a new possible date and how to support events.
The last tourism and culture festival was in 2013; lack of funds prevented one talking place last year. There was, however, a Tuareg festival of song and music during the summer which managed to put on several thanks to everyone providing their services for free. [/restrict]
