The Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) and the Organisation for the Development of Administrative Centres (ODAC) held a meeting last Wednesday (1 July) to discuss installing renewable energy technologies in public buildings including schools.

REAoL is the entity charged with Libya’s renewables policy while ODAC is a state construction agency charged with building state schools and administrative centres.

The meeting comes in accordance with Circular No. (8444) issued by the Prime Minister's Office. The circular urges all public entities and institutions funded by the public treasury to coordinate with the REAoL and adopt renewable energy technologies to meet their electricity needs.

REAoL said implementing this policy will contribute to increasing energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and enhancing the capacity of the national electricity grid.

The meeting included a presentation on the Future Schools project and a review of mechanisms for integrating renewable energy systems within these schools. This integration aims to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and support the shift towards using clean and sustainable energy sources.

Participants also discussed ways to cooperate and coordinate between the two entities to develop the necessary technical plans for implementing renewable energy solutions in the Future Schools and administrative buildings, in line with the state's plans to achieve sustainable development and enhance infrastructure efficiency.
