Malta, 15 March 2015:
A total power blackout hit the eastern region of Libya on Saturday morning, GECOL reports.
The . . .[restrict]blackout, which occurred twice in the same day, was as a result of the lack of operators at the local Sirte Oil Company-owned gas station, the main supplier to the Benghazi North power station.
A drop in the pressure of the gas supply had caused the units at Benghazi North to shut down.
GECOL reported that electicty was imported from Egypt for a short period of time and that power was returned to the region gradually by the evening.
Meanwhile, power was returned to Sirte Sunday morning after it had suffered an unrelated total blackout on Saturday. [/restrict]
