New Malta-Misrata flights launched by Maltese 4seasons Travel

By Libya Herald reporter.

Malta, 10 February 2015:

The Maltese travel agents, 4seasons Travel, has announced that it is launching 2 weekly flights . . .[restrict]from Malta to Misrata every Sunday and Wednesday starting 15 February, in addition to daily flights to Tripoli’s Mitiga airport, Munir Attiga Managing Director of 4seasons Travel confirmed to Libya Herald today.

Prices would be in the Euro 500 region for a one way ticket, similar to the Malta-Mititga price, he said, blaming the high price on the high insurance costs charged.

It will be recalled that in January, the Maltese branch of FCM Travel Solutions had announced it was starting flights to Mitiga, Tripoli, beginning Monday, 19 January.

The company had been flying a Medavia 19-seater plane on charter flights between Malta and Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport for two months on an ad-hoc basis.

The Malta-Mitiga route had hitherto been monopolized exclusively by flights chartered by Medavia. Libyan airliner Ghadames Air had announced in January that it was to start flights to Malta, but it failed to receive approval from ‘’Maltese authorities’’, sources at Ghadames said.

The new Misrata-Malta route will be only the second route directly linking Libya with the EU, as  it will be recalled that, scheduled flights originating in Libya have been banned from flying to Europe or even entering European airspace. Aircraft registered in the EU had been allowed to fly to Europe.

The EU flight ban does not apply to charter flights, FCM had told Libya Herald.
