Tripoli, 22 July 2014:
The Japanese Embassy in Tripoli yesterday temporarily closed because of the security situation in the capital. . . .[restrict]The ambassador and diplomats have been evacuated out of the country, a Japanese official told the Libya Herald. Japanese businessmen have also left, he said.
Some embassy staff are operating out of Cairo.
“We hope that the embassy will resume its work once the situation stabilises, as before,” the official added.
Many embassies and delegations, notably the UN and the remaining foreign presence of the ICRC, have also already left. Others have reduced staff. [/restrict]
