Benghazi, 21 January 2014:
A member of the Saiqa Special Forces was killed this evening when an explosive device fitted . . .[restrict]beneath his Hyundai vehicle was detonated.
Spokesman for Benghazi Joint Security Room (BJSR) Ibrahim Al-Shara said the man had been identified as Muftah Al-Shukri. While there were reports circulating on social media networks that another military official had also been killed in the blast, Shara was unable to confirm whether there had been any further casualties.
The explosion happened at around 7 pm on Khaleej Street, between the Bodema and Laithi districts of Benghazi. A fire from the explosion could reportedly be seen for several kilometres around and took nearly an hour for firefighters to get under control.
