Benghazi, 22 January 2014:
Three people have now been confirmed dead after last night’s explosion in Benghazi, including two officers . . .[restrict]from the Saiqa Special Forces.
Spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room (BJSR), Ibrahim Al-Shara, confirmed that three bodies were recovered from the wreckage of a car targeted by an explosive device. Two of the dead, identified as members of the Special Forces, have been named as Waleed Jumaa Al-Abar and Muftah Al-Shukri.
A third individual has not yet been identified. A source at Benghazi’s Al-Jala Hospital told the Libya Herald that it had not been possible to identify the body due to extensive burns resulting from a vehicle fire following the explosion.
The blast, understood to have been caused by a remotely-detonated explosive device, occurred yesterday at around 7pm in Khaleej Street. [/restrict]
