A senior bomb disposal expert was gunned down today as he walked with his son, from . . .[restrict]a Benghazi mosque after Friday prayers.
It is reported that one of two masked men in a white Mitsubishi Lancer with tinted windows, fired a semi-automatic weapon at Col Mustafa Agela Almugrbi, an experienced bomb disposal officer, serving with the city’s criminal investigation department.
According to one eyewitness, when he realised he was about to be attacked, Almugrbi told his ten year-old son to run back into the Al-Ansar mosque mosque in the Al-Hadaai’q area of the city.
The Libyan news agency, LANA reported the Interior Ministry as saying that Almugrbi had been responsible for defusing a large number of explosive devices around the country, most recently a bomb outside Benghazi’s leading hotel, the Tibesti.
