The Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA) reported yesterday that, in a move reflecting its commitment to developing Libyan exports across various non-oil sectors, ITs Chairman, Mohamed Al-Hangari, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce.
The memorandum was signed at the Italian Senate building in Rome, with the participation of the President of the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce, the Italian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and several Chamber officials.
The memorandum establishes a framework for several joint industrial, agricultural, and maritime investment projects to be implemented in Libya following the completion of relevant economic and scientific studies. Specifically, the MoU aims at:
– Strengthening economic cooperation between Libya and Italy in the areas of investment, development, and joint non-oil exports
– Supporting the implementation of industrial, agricultural, and maritime projects within Libya based on specialized scientific and economic studies
– Developing industrial and agricultural infrastructure to enhance the future international competitiveness of Libyan exports
– Expanding international partnerships and opening new horizons for future trade and investment cooperation between the two countries
LEDA Chairman Al-Hangari emphasized the importance of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Italian side in terms of developing industrial and agricultural infrastructure in Libya, which will enhance non-oil exports in the future.
The signing ceremony was attended by Tariq Al-Gharabli, Director of the Decision Support Office at the Prime Minister’s Office, as well as the Director of the International Cooperation Office, the Director of the Monitoring and Quality Assurance Office, and the Director of the LEDA’s Media Affairs Office.
