Tripoli, 31 December:

The explosion of a sewage tank in Sebha has led to the massive leakage of sewage water . . .[restrict]which could lead to an environmental disaster, LANA reports.

The explosion which has led to the collapse of the main sewage tank has resulted in the main road from Sebha leading to Brak-Shati being blocked off.

The leak was so bad that the local police had to evacuate residents of the Abu-Hajara district where the great pool of the sewage water lies.

The explosion was believed to have been caused purely by the volume of sewage and by the lack of essential maintenance and repairs of the neglected sewage system. [/restrict]
