A Libyan trade delegation participated in the 5th French Arab Economic Summit 2024 held in Paris from 11-12 December under the banner ‘‘Increasing France’s place in the Arab world’’.
The Libyan delegation was led by the Mohamed Raied, head of the General Libyan Union of Chambers of Commerce, the NOC, Tobruk (Libya) Chamber of Commerce, and the Libyan French Joint Economic Chamber.
The advancement of Arab economies
Tobruk Chamber of Commerce reported that during the event the elements of this summit were reviewed and the importance of economic partnerships between the Arabs and France were discussed. This included many speeches on the aspirations of the participating Arab countries on the advancement of Arab economies and building bridges of cooperation with France.
The interventions of the Libyan delegation, Tobruk Chamber of Commerce reported, were characterised by serious communication with the French side including its happiness with its participation in the summit.
France is an important economic partner for Libya
Al-Raied pointed out that France is an important economic partner for Libya and that they seek to develop these economic relations to exchange interest and contribute to the development of the economy of the two countries. This includes the establishment of real partnerships between the Union of Libyan and French Chambers.
Mohamed Wafa, President of the Libyan French Joint Economic Chamber, also stressed that this chamber has made important progress in the past period and with the encouragement of the Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade as well as the President of the Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce.
The President of the Tobruk Chamber of Commerce, Ibrahim Al-Jarari, considered France an important country, especially in the economic field. He called on all French private and public companies to communicate with the concerned authorities to contribute to activating the economic and commercial scene.
He said the Libyan labour market welcomes all French companies during this period, which is witnessing great stability and security, assuring them that the reconstruction witnessed by Libya today is evidence that Libya has passed the ordeal and began to look forward to a better future. He called on companies and parties participating in the summit to visit Libya, especially the city of Tobruk, especially the Paris Chamber of Commerce and its affiliated businesses.
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) also had an important participation at the summit with Attia Hamed Ali, Director of the International Cooperation Department, who stressed the importance of such economic summits because they establish real economic partnerships that achieve economic integration between participants from all Arab countries and France.
