Tripoli, 18 August 2015:
After four years of having no law enforcement forces, the first police station in the eastern . . .[restrict]city of Derna opened today at a ceremony attended by the elders and members of the mujahideen, local sources have told the Libya Herald.
The opening ceremony was held after a group of boy scout cleaned up and restored the building which had been set on fire during the Mujahideen-led uprising in June against the Islamic State (IS) which had controlled the town for six months.
Derna has continued to be targeted by IS forces, still based outside the town in the Fataiah farmland district to the south east. Earlier today, it again tried to re-enter it before being thwarted by the Mujahideen forces. [/restrict]
