The UAE has accused Libya Dawn of being behind the Thursday’s bombing of its embassy in . . .[restrict]west Tripoli. Condemning the attack, UAE Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that both it and Ansar Al-Sharia were to blame.
Three guards were injured in the blast.
Describing both groups as terrorists, he demanded that “collective, swift and decisive action” be taken to put an end to such action.
Both the House of Representatives and the government have also condemned the attacks, likewise blaming them on the “terrorist militias which control the capital” – a reference to Libya Dawn. The HoR said the organisation was responsible for repression in Tripoli, the stopping of fuel and electricity to Fashloum, Zawiat Al-Dahmani and Gargarsh (where there have been protests against Libya Dawn) and was behind a number of bank robberies in the capital.
The EU and the UN Security Council have also condemned the bombings.
In Tripoli, Omar Al-Hassi has said he too condemned the attacks. Promising to pay for any damage, he said he had ordered an enquiry into them. Later, he also announced that any foreign countries that were taking part in the crisis in Libya would be taken to court.
Egypt and the UAE have been accused by Libya Dawn and by the Hassi administration of being responsible for airstrikes in Tripoli as well as in the east of the country. Both countries have denied it. [/restrict]
