Kufra, 12 November 2014:
The Chairman of the Management Committee for the central area of the Man-Made River was . . .[restrict]kidnapped and there are unconfirmed reports that he has since been found murdered.
Dr. Ahmed Ali Issa Al-Warfali was seized yesterday with his nephew when they were driving one of his sons to school in the middle of Sirte. The nephew was released a short time later.
An official at his office told the Libya Herald “Unknown attackers fired on his car and took him away”. The kidnappers have not made any demands.
“We still don’t know who kidnapped Warfali” said the company official. “The kidnappers have not contacted the family yet”.
There has been a report that Warfali’s body has been found in the Al-Washka area, some hundred kilometres west of Sirte. However a friend said that he did not believe this was true.
The kidnapping follows the weekend bombing in a residential area of the town. A Sirte council official told this newspaper that the morning blast had caused no casualties and very little damage. It was unclear who was responsible.
