Tripoli, 30 June 2014:

The Justice and Construction Party has asked authorities to do all they can . . .[restrict]to trace one of their party officials following his abduction.

The manager of the party’s media office Husam Al-Naili told the Libya Herald that Mohamed Al-Harizi, the head of the Justice and Construction Party’s Committees Council had disappeared last night after attending a Tripoli mosque. Eye witnesses at the scene said they saw Harizi being taken by a group of men in Military Police uniforms.

“He was captured while returning from prayers in the vicinity of the Airport Road,” Naili said. Neither Harizi’s family nor members of the Justice and Construction Party has received messages from any kidnappers, he added.

Naili said Harizi’s last known contact had been with his wife, who he had told he would be going Taraweeh prayers on the Airport Road. These prayers normally end at about 11:30 pm.

The Justice and Construction Party has condemned the abduction and called on Harizi’s kidnappers to release him. It has also asked the government and security services to “take responsibility and do their duty by arresting the kidnappers and freeing  Harizi as soon as possible”.
