Despite the offensive against militants in Benghazi, attacks on security officials show now sign . . .[restrict]of letting up. A member of the Counter Crime Agency was murdered in the city yesterday evening.
Osama Abdullah Barasi, aged 37, died instantly in the city’s Suq Zamzam area when masked gunmen shot at him from their vehicle. The spokesperson for Jalaa Hospital where his body was taken, Fadia Barghathi, told the Libya Herald that he had been hit several times in the chest.
His job at the CCA brought him into constant contact with the public. He would write up their complaints.
Meanwhile also yesterday evening, a 24-year-old civilian, Nasar Muftah, was suffered serious injuries to his hands and legs when a mortar exploded in the street in Hawari district where he was walking. He is now at Benghazi Medical Centre.
