Tripoli, 18 May 2014:

The Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO), a subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) celebrated its new discoveries in Sirte and the Ghadames Basin for the first quarter on Thursday.

“AGOCO celebrated its first quarter discoveries in gas and oil at its main headquarters in Benghazi,” the AGOCO head of information Abdeljaleel Mayouf told the Libya Herald.

A gas field was discovered by AGOCO earlier this year in the Ghadames Basin.  Exploratory testing at the site has yielded 1,266 barrels of oil and 2.9 million cubic feet of gas per day.  Another discovery was made in the Sirte Basin in April which is expected to produce an estimated 1,900 barrels of oil per day.

The discoveries were made by national engineers.

The AGOCO media office reports, “This celebration sprung out of our desire to recognize the value of these discoveries.  We also wanted to honour our talented engineers, who work hard in challenging environments every day to further the mission of the corporation.” [/restrict]
