LIPTIC establishes training academy in Libya with Etisalat

Tripoli, 26 March 2014:

The state-owned Libyan Post Telecommunications Information Company (LPTIC) has signed an agreement for the establishment of . . .[restrict]a training academy in Libya with Dubai’s Etisalat Academy,

The MoU was signed by Ali Al Sharid, Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Services Holding, and Dr. Faisel Gergab, Chairman, Libyan Post Telecommunications Information Company.

Under the terms of the MoU, Etisalat Academy will assist LPTIC management determine their training needs across their eight subsidiaries and provide support to establish a training academy in Libya.

Etisalat Academy will help develop the capabilities of LPTIC’s 14,000 employees working in the postal and ICT sectors through training, assessment and development initiatives.

LPTIC Holding is the state-owned national operator that provides fixed, mobile and internet related services throughout Libya and the partnership stems from “a strong belief that technology is the creative engine of many future opportunities for Libya”, the companies reported.

Ali Al Sharid, CEO, Etisalat Services Holding, said: “This partnership with LPTIC Holding is a key milestone in the geographic expansion plans of Etisalat Academy. Tapping into our experience, we will help develop the LPTIC workforce to boost productivity, lower costs and ensure higher employee morale and loyalty. Subsequently, we will expand the partnership to provide learning and development of skills to the wider Libyan community.”

Dr. Faisal Gergab, Chairman of LPTIC, said: “The establishment of our training academy in partnership with Etisalat Academy is part of our commitment to create an innovative, progressive, market-based economy. With the expertise of our partners, our staff will learn about new technologies and strategies, thus giving us a competitive edge in the marketplace. We take pride in employee development and would like to be the benchmark for efficient work practices and a highly skilled workforce, in the region.”

Etisalat Academy will manage the training and development requirements of LPTIC employees either in its own state-of-the-art facility in Dubai or in the centre being built in Libya, in consultation with Booz & Company.

The development programs will focus on several areas such as psychometrics and competency assessments, technical and ICT knowledge, soft skills as well as talent and leadership development programs. [/restrict]
