Tripoli, 12 February 2013:

The chairman of the Arab Contracting Union, Abdulrahman Abdullah Husseini, is reported to have been kidnapped this afternoon, . . .[restrict]Tuesday.  According to work colleagues speaking to Al Asima TV, he was abducted after driving off from his office in the Swani district.  His driver, a Sudanese, was also seized.

There has been a number of kidnappings in Tripoli recently but security has not been the problem in the capital that it is in Benghazi, and most of the abductions have been for money rather than for political purposes.

On Sunday, the deputy head of the national Fire Service and Civil Protection organsisation, Colonel Mahmoud Al-Jaaber, was kidnapped. He was seized from his office in Tripoli by an armed group. He has not been found so far.

The National Numbers Department head of the identity card agency was also kidnapped in Tripoli at the beginning of the month but he was released later the same day.
