‎Benghazi University reported yesterday that its Head of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Allam Al-Falah, paid a working visit to the Republic of Turkey, on the sidelines of which he held a series of fruitful meetings with officials of the “ARCICA” (Research Centre for Islamic History, Arts and Culture) and the Ottoman Archive Centre in Istanbul.‎

‎The visit focused on a joint project to print two volumes that include a rare and selected collection of Libya’s documents in the Ottoman Archives, where the collection of 300 historical documents dating back to the period of Ottoman rule in Libya has been completed, and work is currently underway to classify and translate them in preparation for their printing.‎

‎This step comes within the University of Benghazi’s strategy to localize knowledge and support historical research by strengthening partnerships with world-leading research centers.‎

‎During the meetings, Dr. Allam Al-Falah stressed the university’s desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with the centre. Proposals were put forward for future projects that include holding specialized conferences, seminars and workshops on the history of Libya during the Ottoman era, on top of which is the organization of an international historical symposium on the topic of “The Roots and Effects of Islamic Cultural Communication in Africa”.‎
