The Libyan Airports Authority reported last Wednesday (9 October) that on the same day a high-level delegation headed by the President of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, accompanied by a delegation from the Italian airline ITA, visited Mitiga airport.
The Italian delegation was received by the head of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority, the Director General of Mitiga Airport and a number of directors of the competent departments.
During the visit, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Air Transport and the Italian Ambassador to Libya, the Airports Authority reported that the delegation toured the airport to learn about the procedures followed, with a focus on efforts to ensure aviation safety and security.
ITA, it reported, also expressed its readiness to reopen the air route between Libya and Italy, reflecting its desire to strengthen air links and facilitate travel between the two countries.
The Airports Authority said the visit comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Libya and Italy. It also comes, it continued, within the framework of efforts to improve air services and exchange experiences in the field of civil aviation, which contributes to the lifting of the European air ban imposed on Libyan airports.
