Libya’s Airports Authority reported yesterday that a delegation from the State of Qatar is on a two-day visit to Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport.

The delegation included the Director of Qatar Civil Aviation Security and Qatar Airways’ Aviation Security team. The purpose of the visit was to check the security measures applied at the airport and ensure that they conform to international standards.‎

‎The audit covered all airport facilities, with the aim of verifying the compliance of these procedures with civil aviation security standards, conducting a comprehensive assessment of the procedures and ensuring compliance with international standards. This is done to enhance the safety and security of flights originating from Mitiga Airport, the Airports Authority explained.‎

‎It also added that the visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation and rapprochement between Libya and the State of Qatar and resuming flights between the two countries.‎

The Qatari delegation was received by the Director General of the airport, the Director of the Operations and Safety Department, the Director of the Airport Security Office, the Head of the Airport Security Section at the Airports Authority, the Director of the Aviation Security and Facilities Office at the Civil Aviation Authority, in addition to representatives of some security authorities operating at the airport.‎
