Libya Food expo opens with involvement of 200 local and foreign participants

The Prime Minister of the Tripoli-based Libyan government, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al -Hwej, several business leaders of food industry companies, opened the Fourth Edition of the Libyan Food Exhibition today (5 to 8 March).

80 foreign participants led by Tunisia
The event included the participation of 200 industrial and commercial companies in the food-related sector, including 120 local companies, in addition to 80 foreign companies from Turkey, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, the UAE, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. Tunisian boasted the largest foreign participation with 15 participants.

Exhibition comes in light of recent food security crisis
Speaking exclusively to Libya Herald, Haitham Girwash, the General Manager of the International Company for Regulating Exhibitions and Conferences, said that the organization of this food exhibition comes in light of the crises that the world is going through and that affected the provision of food for human beings in all countries. He said the exhibition opens the door for exhibitors specializing in the food industry and trading, while it provides consumers with the opportunity to identify directly with them and their products that are sometimes exposed to commercial fraud

Girwash said exhibitors at the Libya Food Exhibition are divided between factories and suppliers of juice, beverages, equipment and food suppliers, food technology, food services companies, factories, canned and reserved food suppliers, livestock and poultry breeders, fresh, refrigerated and frozen food companies, dairy products of all kinds, suppliers and manufacturers of the raw materials for sweets and bakeries, laboratories, seed supply companies, grains, mill and fodder, with a wide participation of packaging companies and factories, in addition to a distinguished participation of delivery companies and accompanying services.

For his part, Marwan Gidad, official representative of the Al -Sahl Holding Group, the official sponsor of the Libya Food Exhibition 2023, said that their group always contributes to sponsoring various economic activities, the most prominent of which is food exhibitions that aim to expand and develop the food sector, increase the sales of companies, and extend cooperation bridge between them to strengthen local and international relations specialized in the food Industry.

Gidad added that their industrial group owns an industrial complex with a variety of food industries, in addition to factories and mills for feed and flour, as well as factories for pasta, milk and its derivatives, which are spread in several Libyan cities.

In addition to this, his company imports different types of foodstuffs from several European countries of high quality and sold to the Libyan consumer at good prices.
