(NCDC).

London, 6 May 2020:

Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) today announced a new case of Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country. Yesterday it had announced an existing case had recovered. Today’s revelation brings the country’s total cases to 64 with 24 recoveries and three deaths.

On a related note, the first flight repatriating Libyans stranded abroad arrived late last night/early this morning from Istanbul at Misrata airport. In view of the fact that Tripoli’s Mitiga airport is subject to persistent bombing attributed to the Hafter forces, Libyan authorities decided to use Misrata airport instead.

It will be recalled that the passengers had undergone a 14-day quarantine and two PCR (polymerise chain reaction) tests before being allowed to return by Libyan authorities.

The NCDC has also prepared tracing forms to follow-up on the health status of passengers to be filled-in by returnees inside the aircraft and then handed over to the international health control offices, which will deliver them to the NCDC and through which all travellers will be traced.

Other flights will be scheduled in the coming days and weeks to return stranded Libyans from Tunisia, Egypt and from Spain. The Spanish flight will be transporting Libyans gathered from all over Europe.
