Measures to improve security in Tripoli for locals and state bodies alike were the focus of discussions today between Presidency Council head Faiez Serraj and State Council chairman Abdualrahmen Sewehli at the PC’s acting headquarters at the city’s naval base. They followed the reported assassination attempt on the two in the capital a couple of days ago. Continuing clashes between militias and kidnappings for ransom remain major issues for ordinary residents.
Serraj and Sewehli also examined proposals to end the current political deadlock as well as the latest developments elsewhere in the country, according to the PC’s Facebook page.
Yesterday saw both men in separate talks with UN special envoy Martin Kobler on the deadlock at which possible amendments to the LPA were discussed.
Sewehli is expected to visit Tunis tomorrow, Thursday, in the wake of Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria unveiling a fresh initiative to further political reconciliation in Libya two days ago.
