Libya's Ministry of Oil and Gas reported today that it held a productive meeting with the EU to discuss enhancing technical cooperation within the oil and gas sector and reviewed the "ANQA" Clean Energy and Industry Project (2027–2030).
The initiative represents an ambitious collaborative framework between Libya and the EU, aimed at supporting the transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable oil industry.
During the meeting, the Ministry’s team also emphasized its commitment to ensuring the active participation of national institutions in the work of the Methane Emission Reduction and Gas Flaring Mitigation Committee.
The Ministry said this effort is viewed as a cornerstone of the sustainability path and the transition to clean energy, as well as a means to bolster Libya’s standing within the international environmental framework.
The meeting concluded with all parties affirming the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to translate these initiatives into tangible results that advance national development and achieve shared goals.
The meeting included representatives from the Ministry’s Planning Department, technical departments, and the Renewable Energy and International Cooperation offices, alongside experts from the EU delegation—including Mr. Jan Matej (EU Delegation to Libya), Dr. Haitham Hassan (Operations Intensification Advisor), and Mr. Ali Al-Jahawi (representative of the Petroleum Research Center).
