The head of Libya’s General Authority for Communications and Informatics, Abdelbaset Salem Al-Baour, hosted the U.S. Chargé d'affaires to Libya, Jeremy Berndt, and the Deputy Chief of Mission, Inga Heemink at the Authority’s Tripoli headquarters last Thursday (16 July).
The meeting discussed prospects for strategic cooperation and the development of the telecommunications and information technology sector.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen the bilateral partnership in the fields of digital transformation, cybersecurity, and the modernization of digital infrastructure.
Promising investment opportunities with leading U.S. companies discussed
Both sides also explored promising investment opportunities and fruitful cooperation with leading U.S. companies to support Libya's development and modernization plans.
Al-Baour noted that the Authority is striving to build robust strategic partnerships that serve mutual interests, facilitate knowledge transfer, and localize modern technologies. He emphasized the goal of qualifying national talent and building Libyan capacity by leveraging distinguished global expertise within an investment-friendly regulatory environment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on the importance of continued coordination, consultation, and the exchange of expertise in digital security and technical capacity building. These efforts aim to support digital transformation, strengthen bilateral relations, and open new horizons for technical and developmental cooperation between the two countries.
Also in attendance were the Authority’s Director General of Regulatory Affairs, Riad Al-Zaitouni, and the Director of the Experts' Office, Rafiq Al-Janjan.
