AGOCO reactivates stalled old Nafoura well to produce 1,200 bpd

Libya’s Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) reported yesterday that new afforestation work has begun in the areas surrounding its Al-Nafoura oil field, covering an estimated 30 hectares.

This is part of the ongoing “Think About Tomorrow” initiative launched by the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to enhance environmental sustainability in areas surrounding oil operations.

This step follows the first phase of the initiative, implemented last year at the Al-Nafoura field, operated by AGOCO. At that time, 20 hectares were afforested as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at improving vegetation cover and mitigating the environmental impacts of oil activities.

The current afforestation efforts aim to support ecological balance and enhance the quality of the local climate within the field and surrounding areas. This aligns with the NOC’s commitment to establishing the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable development. The initiative reflects the NOC and its subsidiaries’ commitment to adopting practical programmes for environmental conservation through afforestation projects and the expansion of green spaces.
