Maltese embassy celebrates Malta Day

The Libyan Embassy in Malta reported last Thursday (22 January) that a coordination meeting was held at the Maltese Embassy in Tripoli, attended by the Chargé d’affaires, Mohamed Ali Al-Sharif, the Maltese Ambassador to Libya, Franklin Aquilina, and Sean Chircop Troisi, the Maltese Consul in Tripoli, along with Essam Al-Awl, Chairman of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, and Al-Saghir Muailif, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Investment Holding Company.

The meeting focused on initial preparations for the second Libyan Maltese Trade and Export Forum, scheduled to be held in Tripoli.

During the meeting, the general vision for the upcoming forum and coordination mechanisms among relevant official bodies were reviewed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of building upon the successes achieved during the first Libyan Maltese Economic Forum, held in Malta in April 2014, which, the Libyan Embassy reported, achieved tangible success in strengthening cooperation between public and private sector institutions.

The first forum yielded positive outcomes, including expanding trade cooperation, opening new investment channels, and strengthening communication between Libyan and Maltese businesspeople, thus laying a solid foundation for enhancing economic relations between the two countries, the Libyan Embassy added.

Chargé d’affaires Al-Sharif expressed his hope that the second edition of the forum would be even more impactful and effective by expanding investment opportunities, supporting trade exchange, and strengthening strategic partnerships between Libya and Malta, thereby contributing to achieving shared interests and supporting economic development efforts.

The attendees affirmed that this coordination meeting reflects a shared commitment to unifying institutional efforts and working proactively to ensure that a second economic forum achieves results exceeding those of the first and meets the aspirations of both friendly nations in developing their economic and trade relations.
